2010 Audi R8 Spider Twittique – A quick design review
It could be argued that the iconic design feature of side blade came off with the roof; and the venting that sits in its place is an equally striking feature. The bold and wide aggressive stance of the R8 spider is not all lost, but the front/side does suffer the most from the absence of the blades. I can’t help wanting to see how well it would have looked like if Audi had tried to leave it on.

Actually i think it looks better without the side blade…but that’s just me lol. It looks cool either way though.
Hmm now that i look better at it i think you have a point…but i think you should alter the other pics as well (especially the one from the rear) too see how the side blades fit in. I have a vague hunch they don’t fit very well, and that’s the reason they were ditched from the roadster.
Great review and great website. I absolutely love the mashup with the coupe vents. That does a few things for me. One, I think the added boldness you spoke of is really needed to make a supercar statement and, two, I think that without the coupe’s vents it looks too long and out of proper proportion from front to back. I love those hood louvres though, too.
Awesome photoshop with the side blade. Would look awesome that way.

Maybe I should have a go at it! In my mind I would have thought it would have formed a ‘bridge’ over the back of the car, going through those vents, as you can see, there are already lines there to enable this, but as I have not seen this car in the flesh/metal, how feasible it will be is another story altogether.

Thanks for the kind comments!
The R8 Spyder looks proper , but I think for the same price I would rather have a 911 Turbo cabriolet…
